In the tradition
With no central line, readers see someone who chooses each next step as it comes.

In a reading
- It is drawn on the Work & purpose card.
- When it is the most distinctive shape in a hand, it names that hand on its Mark.
- A line too faint to see in the photo is drawn in pencil, and the card says so.
The fate line
When it is present at all, runs vertically up the middle of the palm toward the middle finger. A reading calls it the central line. Plenty of hands do not have one, and its absence is unremarkable.
Other shapes of the fate line
Palmistry is an interpretive tradition, not a diagnostic tool. These pages say what the tradition reads into a shape, not what a hand proves.
